Mark,

Just normal Shibboleth authentication.  Aaron Coburn did a great write up of 
setting up Shibboleth with VCL here:

http://people.apache.org/~acoburn/shibboleth.html

Others at NCSU dealt with joining InCommon.  So, I have no idea about that 
part.
