Josh, thank you. Yes, I dug old email on how to 'svn commit' and followed instructions. It fails even with https this time and I'm sure it worked in the past.
I changed my password this morning (via https://issues.apache.org site). Maybe apache.org takes some time to sync passwords between all systems...
