Velocity 1.5 should now use a org.apache.velocity.exception.ParseErrorException
instead of the generic java.lang.Exception.
Are you sure there isn't some old velocity.jar hidden somewhere in a shared
classpath entry?
If it's really Velocity 1.5, could you please attach the full stacktrace ?
