I don't think this is the right direction, these are backwards compatible settings present for those that rely on the old behavior, but the old behavior is wrong. The default should be the modern, correct behavior, not the old, deprecated, broken one. The changes have been made for a reason, otherwise the old behavior would still be the default, and the one and only behavior.
