Hi everyone and Glaucia, we met after all as it would be hard to find another time slot. Here are some minutes from our meetup:
==== Participants: Mirco, Kaustubh, Juri, Alex, Zoi - Mirco debriefed us on the CoC EU: Highlight: Paul from Groovy demonstrated how to do a classification task with Wayang. Once we have our new release, we can reach out to him to see how he can contribute this to our codebase or documentation. - Next release Mirco is progressing to make the release process work. Once he is done, he pings us so that we determine what to include in the release and what not. A training document on the release would be nice. - Roadmap We discussed the next steps based on the document that can be found here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1RAW_tHJPrW9nypgWqmreuSnQr5jE4miUp6O0AuFuJ2Q/edit?usp=sharingThe following things were mentioned: 1. We agreed that priority should be given in packaging so that the system is easier to use (docker image) and documentation. Specifically, making the basic java api not accessible and converitng the benchmark application from that api to the scala-like one. 2. Ongoing work is making a federated processing and learning platform using Pekko (which is the latest public version of akka). 3. We discussed about having some contributors to create an Airflow adaptor for Wayang and contribute this code to the Apache Airflow community. 4. Another thing that could increase adoption is to implement a module that would automatically convert Spark or Flink jobs to Wayang. This would be fairly easy to implement due to the similarities on the API. 5. Apache Kafka PR will be cleaned up and merged once the release is done. - Hackathons To increase adoption, organizing hackathons is a good idea.
