Hi Wayang Community, My name is Dileepa Thushan Peiris, and I am a 24-year-old Software Engineering student at the University of Westminster, Sri Lanka. I am currently in my third year, undergoing a software engineering internship at WSO2 .
I am writing to express my strong interest in contributing to WAYANG-54 (Make Wayang more datalake-friendly) as part of Google Summer of Code 2026. I have extensive experience in TypeScript and Java, specifically working with Spring Boot, Node.js, React, and React Native/Expo. As an active open-source contributor , including contributions to the Expo repository , I am currently ranked among the Top 20 contributors in Sri Lanka on Gitista. My goal for this project is to integrate specialized Data Lake execution engines, such as Apache Datafusion, Trino/Presto, Dremio, and BigQuery, into Wayang to enable more efficient SQL pushdown capabilities.
