Good to have that as well.

Thought so ;)

Changelog:
* removed 'frame' like behaviour, but made promo-box more flexible for e.g. low-res

Thanks.

This was just an experiment... and it wasn't a good one :) For those who a know a bit of css, now I've used min-width, but I've made 'sure' that browsers with a total width of 800px won't show a horizontal scrolling bar (when maximized). For IE I had to use a minor workaround (using selectors that only 'good' browsers understand).

* added some style to the news and etc. items

The font is very small. Please use the regular font-size.

I've changed the font size a bit... I had to agree with you... but I was so in to constantly checking different resolutions, different browsers, different text-magnifications that i forget about that ;) The styling of the news and other items is not finished yet... but I'll have to leave it there as my inspiration currently lacks a superior design solution for these items.

And btw: I liked the blue download-box better than the red one.

I'm still not fully satisfied with this one either... but I think its good to have a bit more colour, any better ideas about adding such would be appreciated. I think currently my design has a really corporate look to it. I tried to stay as close to the OpenOffice.org house-style (as derived from the 1.x splash screen, designs for print etc.) as possible which is imho 'corporate'. When I look at the images made for the website by Nicu I think these have a much more 'cool' and happy atmosphere to it. I don't dislike Nicu's artwork at all, but it didn't suit the style of what I think 'belongs' to OpenOffice.org, or we should do a really major image overhaul. Still, I believe an Office suite is a 'boring' product which needs to express stability and corporateness when it tries to 'compete' with a corporate heavyweight as MS Office.

ciao
Christian
