No, the other way. Uhm... there is a background image, and it's too high. It's 
covering the 'user' and 'password' entries.

Perhaps. I do think that such a large image makes usable design more difficult. 
Removing the image doesn't have to make the page unattractive. As in Emily's 
design, one can still use the wired seagulls as a theme element. And it sure 
looks more relevant than the eggs in Maarten's latest design.

It would be hidden. One of the most spectacularly good things about Emily's 
design is that this information is *not* hidden. It's right there, on the 
initial 
page load. It's hard to overstate the difference that makes.

Some are easy to fix ("user" -> "new user"). But others are significant, and 
definitely design problems. In particular, I'm referring to the absence of 
important content, and the fact that the design could not be easily altered to 
include the missing content.
