Hi all --
My name is Peter Kupfer. I usually hang around the Users and Discuss
list and I do some work for OOoAuthors.
I generally advise users to file issues and RFEs when they have ideas. I
feel this is good to get them in the habit of doing this. Anyways, as I
have been suggesting this, I noticed some things about the new page and
had a question.
If I were a newbie (or some other unsuspecting not entirely proficient
user of OOo) where would I go to file a bug (or search for one) if I
started at www.openoffice.org?
I can not find a simple way to do it. I am considering filing a bug
about it, but I wanted some opinions first.
In fact, I can't find any way to get to issuezilla without link I have
in my e-mail or searching or something, am I missing something?
Also, is there a reason the option to login has been removed from the
main page. It is not that much work just to click "My Pages" but I would
think that a login prompt could be put back on the main page and
possible also a register button.
I was trying to explain to someone how to file an issue, but you have to
be registered first, and to register you have to reply to an e-mail. So,
I would think it would be good to have people register first, but again
I don't see a link on the main page to do that easily.
Just some thoughts. I didn't say anything about the new page, because my
initial reaction is usually to criticize change and the main page of the
site doesn't really affect me, because I know how to get around. I think
the main page is more professional, but use wise, I find it to be less
productive. If this should go to a different list, please let me know.
Thanks,
--
