Great, this (http://skype.com/partners/affiliate/) is something like what I would like to see. If you see is a boring text, however they hype it and make it look intuitively and understandable.

Another approach is just KISS approach. Newbies don't want to learn every single bit of our history.

I will be sending you some drafts. Cheers.

Thanks for the work you put into this, but the product-pages are
maintained by the documentation project in collaboration with the
marketing projet (AFAIK).

So the marketing-project would be a better place to discuss the
presentation of the product itself.

On this list, there are mainly the "techies" - only few pages (basically
the front-page and the ones behind the big buttons :-) are actually
maintained/discussed on this list. - The rest mainly is created
elsewhere and just uploaded to the main www.ooo domain.

You mean none of this pages are managed by web design people?
 That doesnt sound very good.

Alexandro--

The OOo site is HUGE! and various folks design/manage different areas. However, your comments with respect to where "newbies" end up ---

http://www.openoffice.org/about_us/new.html

were well founded. I'm hoping to make a little time this weekend to change this page slightly so new users get more of what they're probably expecting. This is not a huge problem, but just a single page that needs a little attention.

This being said, if you'd like to make a copy of this page, and do some editing yourself (please bear in mind that the information regarding the complete OOo project itself MUST stay), feel free. I'd love to see what you come up with.
