Can we replace it with my current proposal [1]? [1] http://website.openoffice.org/tryouts/murb/download6/index.html Possibly with wording for windows changed to: "98, XP, Vista" "98, NT, 2000, XP, Vista" "Vista, XP, 98" "Vista, XP, 2000, NT, 98" "Windows 98 and above" "Windows 98 and newer"
I would add ME to these. Either something like "Windows 98 or higher" or "Windows - 98 through Vista" or list all the main consumer models. "Windows 98, ME, NT, 2000, XP, and Vista" If you start listing a few "98, XP, Vista" or "98, NT, XP, Vista" or even "98, NT, 2000, XP, Vista" people who still use ME (as crazy as that may be) will think OpenOffice.org doesn't work for them. If it did, we would have listed it. [I know some would argue, and have before, that there are hundreds or thousands of models of Windows, what about Windows 98 SE or which version of Windows NT, or XP64, or XP SP1, or Windows Server 2003 Professional, or XPMCE, etc. - but those 6 will cover most all Windows users. Windows 95 users can get 1.0.3, but that's not what we're listing here, so they need to know they can't use this one.] If you just set the low end, or set end caps, then you're covered. My personal suggestion is "Windows - 98 through Vista". That way Vista users see their name, and know its safe, and everyone else can figure it out. -- - Chad Smith http://www.chadwsmith.com/
