Hi; This question occurred to me after replying to a post by Graham about continuing prevalence of dial-up in the world.
Does anybody have a feel for the potential growth of Linux and OOo in the Third World? I have the "One Laptop Per Child" project in mind, but I am sure there are hundreds of other projects or growth opportunities. Is OOo's competition mainly in North America, Europe, Australia and New Zealand? Does the fact that OOo is free, really contribute to its expansion into other parts of the world? Is this a head-to-head competition with an attempt to get people to replace existing office suites with OOo? Or, is it mainly a competition for market share by expansion into new markets?
