Hi all,

It has been rather quiet this weekend... I guess everyone was looking for
easter eggs in the physical world for a change?

:-) Well, enough to reduce critical mass.

Although this is quite a plausible explanation for the relative silence, I'm slightly biased towards an alternative explanation... everyone is just
holding their breath and waiting for the launch :)

Some updates.... We've also been trying, as you know, to synch this with the launch of 2.4. And that's a release that has seen more candidates than the American election.....

(If I'm not mistaken, all (showstopping) issues have been solved by now)

Which will entail:

* Unless objecting, all projects, including native language projects, will
get the new header and footer code + styles.

** Cor, did you announce this at the native lang discussion group?
** Playground/tryout area is offered by the website project, which already
converted to the new style.
* www.openoffice.org/index.html will be replaced by
test.openoffice.org/index.html (instead of linking to /help/ the support
action statement will link to the old support page for now)

+1

* www.openoffice.org/news/ will be the place to find the latest news (see
test.openoffice.org/news/ for a demonstration.

We should launch the new redesign before OOo 2.4 (the product) is ready,
to make sure we are not destroying the 2.4 launch party with a website
that might temporarily go down... or has issues not yet discovered by the
website project's community.

Then let's launch it today.... though read on. 2.4 is scheduled for tomorrow or so...

So what are we still waiting for ?

I don't really see us wrecking 2.4 with this launch. In fact, the opposite: I have a great deal of confidence in the team. I do see the virtue of synchronizing the launch with 2.4, and I see potential confusion, of a relatively minor sort, if we stagger launches. But I honestly don't see this as being a big issue.

But would be okay with launching this evening.

John: any objections? migration
Stefan?

Maarten, if no objections, then we could do it.

What would you (and the others) need to effect the?
And, of course, we would issue a note to announce@ and the lists.

Maarten
