Hi all-- OK, I just finished what I hope will be an improvement to our download process by including a JRE detection mechanism so you will no longer automatically get the JRE included with your OpenOffice download package.
And...thanks to Marcus (and many others) for allowing me to use them as guinea pigs over and over and over again. This entailed a rather major coding revision so hopefully it will stand more testing. The test page is at: http://download.openoffice.org/test/index_k.html What you will experience: * there area bunch of debugging lines that will come out before the page loads. Don't panic -- this is normal and if things don't go as you expect, it would be helpful to relay these to me so I can figure out what's wrong, if anything. The very last message you should see should contain a "good" DL link. * eventually, you SHOULD get to a normal looking DL page (looking more or less like the one at download.openoffice.org) with a green DL box button, which you should "click" as you normally would to see if the DL will actually work. We REALLY need testers who would normally be sent to the native language sites. SO, if you know of anyone like this, please have them test this out. OK, that's all for now. -- ============================================================ Kay Schenk "There's never enough time to do all the nothing you want." -- Bill Watterson, "Calvin and Hobbes" [ thoughts on retirement :) ] --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [email protected] For additional commands, e-mail: [email protected]
