Andrew - congrats on your new committership! I'm all for moving to git. I don't know how easy the process of migrating an existing svn repository to git is at the ASF (or if it's supported). I know that Crunch in the Incubator is using git and it seems to be going fine - they started with git from the outset though. I don't personally have time to volunteer to do this, but it would be great if someone could see what's involved in migrating.
