This sounds like a good plan, and I gather that a consensus is forming about the specifics. Probably applying the same fixes to 1.4 and 1.3.4(,5,...) branches is bearable as long as the difference is only in generics (and concurrent stuff). For this reason I wouldn't take enum and other java 5isms aboard too eagerly in 1.4, if they don't provide important benefits. 1.5 (or 2.0?) can then be the real Java 5 version with all the goodies. Igor is already cleaning up the list of issues with fix version 1.3.3 https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/WICKET/fixforversion/12313047 and there are also issues without set fix version which maybe should be revised to see if there is something urgent?
