Is still WICKET-3989 a blocker ? It is easy to use custom IMarkupSourcingStrategy (for SubPanel in the quickstart) until the official fix is in 1.5.next. There are rumors that if there are no major problems in RC6 then 1.5.0 will be released/voted in less than a week.
