No, no solution. Wicket contains huge pile of codelines, but indeed I have feeling how it uses datastuctures for tags (WicketTagIdentifier) and how they are parsed to dig out meaningful ones. wicket:extend/child tags are handled in HtmlHeaderResolver, MarkupInheritanceResolver and InheritedMarkupMarkupLoader. You have not any "quick reader tutorial" for wicket code?
