It's not a need. It's just that they depend on the DataProvider and the behavior of our components is to detach their dependencies on detach. I'm in the way to allow us to specify this behavior when we have weird cases like that but I'm wondering if it's not something we should fix in Wicket even if I can find a solution in my case as detaching and reattaching models can be quite time consuming depending on the models involved. Maybe it's not worth the trouble though.
