Pages often carry content that only some users need all the time: long
explanations,
help texts, advanced filter forms, details below a summary. Applications
build their own
show/hide toggles for this again and again, usually with inline JavaScript
or inline
styles, both of which a strict Content Security Policy blocks.
Proposal: a small, independent component in wicket-extensions that renders
a title and a
body which the user can expand and collapse.
- collapsed by default, with an API to render it expanded
- built on the native <details>/<summary> elements: works without
JavaScript, is keyboard
accessible and announced correctly by screen readers, and needs no
inline script or style
- the title is a model, the body any component, so it can hold static
text, a panel or a
form
- optionally reports the open state to the server, so it survives a
re-render of the page
- styled with its own CSS, easy to override
