Hi Rahul, In terms of selecting an issue, I would make a comment in the issue that you're working on it to avoid duplicating effort with someone else.
In terms of SVN, you have read access. Once you have a fix ready you should attach a patch to the Jira issue. You can obtain write access to SVN by demonstrating good quality patches and your dedication to the project and being voted in as a committer.
