The topic came up just one or two weeks ago and because I already had a prototype in the pipeline I sent it out to the appropriate devs. The prototype just serves as a feasibility study and to discuss/define the interfaces. It's far away from beeing productive code and will not be applied in its current form. I'm waiting for feedback from the devs how we will proceed (we are busy with WSS4J 2.0). So I can't say more at the moment.
