Hi Amalka, It's not a must to use AS as the backend for ESB tests when running on platform mode. We can have placeholder variable to represent backend endpoint in synapse config and replace that value in test run time by reading the backend URL from automation configuration xml. Reading the backend endpoints from configuration, will make it easy for configure tests to use backends like tomcat, axis2, AS, jetty etc if necessary.
