The change to the script was introduced via the resolution of this ticket, https://wso2.org/jira/browse/APIMANAGER-2536
This issue is MySQL version dependent and does not occur on version 5.6.5 and above. Most probably this was tested on a newer version of MySQL during development and therefore did not cause any issues.
