Hi, This blog is pretty much outdated now. If you install devstack on a VM box, it will be very unusable after you create 2-3 instances. If you really want to install devstack on your machine, install directly on your OS rather than installing in a box. Also make sure your OS supports the version of devstack that you're trying to install.
As for your question, this seems to be a permission issue. Looks like there is a missing step in the blog to switch to "stack" user. Try the following commands and see whether it works for you. devstack/tools/create-stack-user.sh su stack cd git clone https://github.com/openstack-dev/devstack.git -b stable/havana devstack/ cd devstack/ vim localrc # copy in the contents given in the blog ./stack.sh Thanks.
