JLex.jar's manifest says it was created by Sun Microsystems. A scan of the
classes finds no other informative strings.
There was a JLex lexical analyzer generator developed by Elliot Berk at
Princeton University. It's possible that this is the same code, or a fork of
it. We could try comparing them.
I believe this jarfile is indeed a Java implementation of the lex tool. If
it's really just lex rather than an enhanced version, we might be able to
retrofit any other open-source implementation.
