Joe Kesselman commented on XALANJ-2024: --------------------------------------- If I rewrite the selection as {code:java} <xsl:value-of select="(preceding-sibling::node()/Model)[last()]"/>{code} I *do* get the expected results. Which makes much more sense-- select only the preceding sibling elements that have a Model child, take the last one in document order and return its Model. This is equivalent to <xsl:value-of select="preceding-sibling::node()[Model][last()]/Model"/> So I think the answer is that the user wrote the wrong XPath. Using their version, it seeks the earliest preceding-sibling of any type and returns its Model child if any. If that first sib was a text node, for example, there will be no Model and this will return empty. Move to close, working as designed (though it took me a bit of flailing to remember the details well enough to be sure of that). > Axis name: preceding-sibling:: does not seem to work > ---------------------------------------------------- > > Key: XALANJ-2024 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XALANJ-2024 > Project: XalanJ2 > Issue Type: Bug > Security Level: No security risk; visible to anyone(Ordinary problems in > Xalan projects.
