   This doesn't really need a branch but again requires somewhat above-average 
Git experience in my opinion.

   Then you haven't detailed – where should be `master` reset at, and how 
`xalan-j_2_7_1_maint` should be "brought" into it?  See my last comment to 
XALANJ-2671.  I really think you should try and provide more detailed steps to 
follow if you want this one resolved your way.
