## Description: Apache Xalan exists to promote the use of XSLT. We view XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformations) as a compelling paradigm that transforms XML documents, thereby facilitating the exchange, transformation, and presentation of knowledge. The ability to transform XML documents into usable information has great potential to improve the functionality and use of information systems. We intend to build freely available XSLT processing components in order to engender such improvements. ## Project Status: Current project status: Ongoing. Issues for the board: None. ## Membership Data: Apache Xalan was founded 2004-09-30 (22 years ago) There are currently 57 committers and 5 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 8:1. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Joseph Kessselman on 2023-08-07. - No new committers. Last addition was Joseph Kessselman on 2023-06-29. ## Project Activity: Our project activity is low but there is technical progress being made, albeit slowly. There have not been new releases but we've published a presentation "XSLT 3.0 xsl:fork instruction" to our website from the Balisage Conference 2026, Open Mic from August 6: https://xalan.apache.org/xalan-j/xsl3/xsl_fork_balisage_conf_2026.pdf. Work towards XSLT 3.0 support continues. ## Community Health: I would rate our health as low due to the small number of active participants and lack of releases. There is a small decrease in messages on the mailing list from an amount of traffic that is already low. A handful of Jira ticket have been opened. I remain hopeful and the desire exists amonst the PMC to continue work and pupblish releases.
