Dave,
the draw:frame element can be used for
- external images
- embedded objects (either OpenDocument or OLE)
- text content
The draw:frame elements may contain several of the objects simultaneously,
but only one is displayed at the same time. This is very similar to the
concept of an "replacement image" for emebdedd object, except that the
OpenDocument concept is more flexible here.
