Hello OpenOffice XML developer and user,
the OpenSHORE project has last week released (2006-06-29) the SMRL
Metaparser 1.0. This parser is Open Source software (OSI approved
CPL license) and the downloadable distribution contains an OpenOffice
filter package (OpenSHORE-SMRL-Metaparser-1.0-OpenOffice-Filter.jar)
for version 2.0. This package installs XSLT based output filters for
ISO 26300 text documents and the following output formats:
- OpenSHORE XML repository format
- XML Topic Maps (XTM)
- Graph eXchange Language (GXL)
- Resource Description Framework (RDF XML notation)
The Semantic Markup Rule Language (SMRL) is a specification language to
mark or extract semantic meaningful sections and relations in/from
structured human readable documents. It is independent from the concrete
input document format and output result format. Therefore such
specifications contain pattern definitions for elements which exist in
every structured document, such as sections, lists and tables.
The SMRL Metaparser is an XSLT based implementation of a SMRL processor
reading and writing several different XML formats. It relates input
elements with a format specific front-end to abstract SMRL elements
and tries to match them. Afterwards an output specific backend is used
to create the resulting output document.
Please add a link to the SMRL Metaparser on the filter package page of
the OpenOffice web site. The old OpenSHORE filter for OpenOffice
(version 0.1) is no longer supported. Thanks!
