I'm working with the Open Source Geospatial Foundation (OSGeo) Education
project and we are considering promoting DocBook as a recommended format
for writing tutorials and other documents. There is a lot of interest in
using OpenOffice at a writing tool to create DocBook files but I have
not been able to find much in the way of OpenOffice resources to support
the newer DocBook 5.0 format. Are there templates that can be used for
writing or stylesheets for translating to DocBook 5.0?
Any pointers on where to get started or even comments about whether or
not using OpenOffice to write DocBook files is a good idea would be
welcome. I'm quite new to DocBook and XML so I apologize in advance if
I'm overlooking the obvious. I have some time in the next couple months
to look into this but I'm trying to not reinvent something that's been
done already. If I can do something to contribute to the OpenOffice
DocBook effort I'd like to help although at this point I'm not sure what
contributions I can make.
