Hi all,
I have great news on behalf of the XHTML XSLT filter.
Sun donates an ODF to XHTML XSLT filter to the community.
This filter is a recent port of the existing OOoXML to XHTML export
using ODF as input format. (OOo1.x XML format was the file format used
before ODF in OOo 1.x).
The new ODF2XHTML filter is able to be used even without the office.
The previous XSLT XHTML filter can only be used with ODF documents
together with the office. There the office maps ODF documents to the
required OOo XML format for the filter.
Testing this new freedom, I have already been prototyping with a Firefox
extension using the new XSLT stylesheet together with the Saxon
processor as part of a Firefox extension to view ODF documents in the
browser.
Why is this transformation not part of OOo 2.4?
I recently finished a childworkspace (CWS) called XSLTFILTER09,
unfortunately the CWS missed the deadline for OOo 2.4 and therefore will
become part of OOO 3.0.
What's new?
In this CWS I have fixed a couple of things, so that even complex
specifications can look good. Furthermore I have neglected source parts,
that won't be used any further.
Only embedded images won't be saved - but when loaded by the Firefox
extension can be saved, as Firefox is able to work with Java JAR URLs to
point to the images of the original document. ;-)
How can I test the new filter?
The CWS (XSLTFILTER09) is accessible for everyone.
The new stylessheets are part of the filter module.
The new XSLT sources are beyond
'filter/source/xslt/odf2xhtml'
Aside of this, although the CWS has not passed our QA, yet, I will see
if it is possible to upload the office installation of the CWS next week.
(A XSLT JAR to import is not working as the filter consists of more than
one XSLT stylesheet. The solution of using XSLT filters as OOo
extensions is not implemented, yet).
Have a nice week-end,
Svante
