I have since found out that I can get the correct filter on the Linux
system if I change the filename in the filename selection box by typing
at least one character. This is true whether the box is filled with the
default filename, or if I select another filename fromt he files in the
target directory. It's OK to delete one character and then replace it,
but if there is no change at all, then the wrong filter gets used. This
only applies to the Linux system and is not a problem on Windows.
