Thanks Marcin and Oliver! This feedback is great.

Thanks ... mine looks the same when I use the Java Parameters dialogue box, thus not needing to edit the file directly:

This is the error I'm getting:

   JRE is Defective
OpenOffice.org requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform
this task. The selected JRE is defective. Please select another version
or install a new JRE and select it under Tools - Options -
   OpenOffice.org - Java.
   [OK]

Then:

   OpenOffice.org 3.0
   General Error.
   General input/output error.
   [OK]

Just for the heck of it I used your values instead of my values, and it works!

                <param>-Xms64M</param>
                <param>-Xmx384M</param>

Your numbers are "nicer" binary numbers than mine (fewer 1's) ... perhaps that's why. :{)} (of course *every* number is a binary number)

Amazing ... I couldn't have guessed this without your help. Thanks again.
