Daemon sets normally are used to run specific pods on each node. Most daemon
sets are added to a node when the node starts up.
In some deployments, daemon sets are also used to add pods for the logging and
metering. If those pods are killed and recreated _after_ the node has become
available for scheduling pod placement can fail. The removal of the pods does
not mark the node as unhealthy or un-schedulable.
Without pre-emption the pod might never return. This can affect above said
logging use cases and cause logs to be missing.
