My current thinking is that we should add this:

-XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC –XX:+UseParNewGC

with some sane default for -XX:ParallelGCThreads (we should check what the vm
default is).
These should be added as zkServer defaults via environment variables that can
be easily overridden.
