As per the offline discussion with @afine, identified that `checkstyle ant
task` is not working in branch-3.4 and will be raising a new jira task to
correct this.

Thanks @afine for the patience. +1 for the simple fix. I will merge this PR
to branch-3.4, tomorrow if there is no objection from anyone.
