Hello,

If you mean how to map Jahia users/groups to a webapp roles, you can do it in the engine when selecting your webapp (cf. user guide p.38). Else from a development point of view, Jahia uses the default Servlet API roles. Please refer to the Servlet API doc or to the Jahia Webapps Dev. guide (pp. 17 and 18)

Hi,

I'm looking at the code of the addressbook portlet to learn how to use
right management in a portlet.

I understood that a string named role is set for the session, and that
it contains the current role of the user (user or manager). If the role
is "manager" then the jsp will diplay more option.

The user role is initialized by the AddbookHandler.setUseMode function.
Is it for both the jsp and the servlet, or do they keep track of the
role differently?

I guess that by default, it is "user" until it is changed by the user,
but I didn't find where it says that it is the default mode.

However, I did not find where the portlet was communicating with Jahia
to know if a user has the right to set its role to manager.

Could someone give me more information about this part of a webapp?

Thanks,

Romain
