Well you don't necessarily need to do that through the session, but in case you do you need to change a setting in the jahia.properties file to allow access to Jahia's session object :
webapps.dispatcher.inheritJahiaSessionAttributes = true
I would recommend that you use the request.setAttribute(name, value) to communicate though, so your object's won't stay in the session if not needed.
