what option did you follow ? and do you have error messages ? that could help solve the problem :)

Well we have thought about it but are not sure about the difference between an upgrade using the upgrade jar files and a manual move from a working  4.0.3. By manual upgrade I mean copying var/content    and jsp-templates.
