I would like to use the latest version of JForum Portlet from Jahia
and when I look in CVS, I see two modules. 'jforum' and
'jforum_JSR168' - it looks like 'jforum' has had a couple more recent
check-ins, but the name would suggest the module I want is
'jforum_JSR168'.
Which should I pull?
Jahia does not support JSR168 yet (only for next release planned this
fall). So we did a first migration of the JForum application to JSR168 =
resizing of the GUI; automatic authentification with Jahia, etc... using
Jetspeed2 for tests and then, once done, remigrated it as a standard
servlet in order to run with the current release of Jahia.
So all the latest bug fixes and corrections are currently in the Jforum
servlet module. We did not have the time yet to resynchronize them with the
JSR168 version but this will be done for the next release of Jahia. If you
need it urgently, please feel free to make the synch yourself, this should
not be difficult (especially with a tool such as AraxisMerge or similar ;-).
In all the cases, the idea was to contribute and host the JSR168 version of
jForum directly on the Jforum project itself as it is clearly not specific
to Jahia. There was an ongoing discussion with the Jforum lead developer
here: http://www.jforum.net/posts/list/91.page
Also, it looks like these projects are built with JBuilder. Do I need
JBuilder to build the portlet, or can I use a target in one of the Ant
scripts?
Ant should work but I haven't tested myself ;-)
Cheers,
Stéphane
Thanks!
