BTW: we would highly recomend to you to upgrade to 4.0.6 as there are several hundreds of bugs corrected between these two releases ;-)

Which version are you using? Do you have some url
rewriting at the front end which may cause some
problems (e.g. automatically remove all the
/site/name_of_your_site in the urls)? Is the
feature working on a fresh Jahia installation
(with HSQL, basic install, no customization)?
