The board is required to meet once a year. Our annual meetings are typically about a half hour long and mostly comprised of formalities. We have e-mail votes of assorted other issues throughout the rest of the year, though I think it's been quite some time since we have.
Directors have, traditionally, participated mainly through the annual meeting and assorted e-mail votes. They are, of course, able to propose ideas for consideration of the rest of the board. In terms of time commitment, I'd say directors can expect to spend less than an hour a year. We also have a few officer positions, which require a greater time commitment. So far, the treasurer has had most of the actual work, namely keeping up with IRS and other annual government filings. All that said, I expect we'll replace most of the board in this coming election, hopefully with more active members. The new board would be free to commit the organization to more efforts. If anyone's interesting in serving on the board, please let me know. Thanks, -Sean.
