cross-compile problem..

Hi, kannel developer~~

I'm trying to compile kannel for arm-linux.
finally I success,but I have a question.

in configure:
when checking 
"/sbin/start-stop-daemon" and
"/usr/lib/sgml/stylesheet/dsssl/docbook/nwalsh/html/docbook.dsl"
If "$cross_compiling" = yes then
configure: error: Cannot check for file existence when cross compiling

why??
