Hi all,
I am new to this mailing list and also a beginner when it comes to the WAP
technology. Althogh I am working on a project where I want to run a WAP
gateway on an embedded system running Linux. My impression was that Kannel
is the leading opensource WAP gateway and are really interrested to make it
work on my system.
My project includes the development of a Bluetooth and network equipped
embedded system that should act as a gateway for WAP with Bluetooth as a
bearer. The Bluetooth specification states that the bearer in this case
should be UDP via the Point-to-Point protocol. I have a system that runs
UDP over Bluetooth via the PPP protocoll but is UDP a working bearer in Kennel?
Are there more developers on this project that has been looking at the
possibility to run WAP over Bluetooth or anyone who would think that it
would be interesting to make this work with Kennel.
Do you people know if any mobile phone or PDA has support for WAP over
Bluetooth or is planning to have?
Do you think that Kannel is a good choice for an embedded system or are
there other WAP gateways that would be more suitable for this type of
system when it comes to small memory requirements.
Any comment, answers or ideas are very velcome!
Regards,
Peter Fredriksson
