I have just finished a mod to enable 100% reliable SMS reception and
transmission using AT ... modem SMS routing.
It is mostly just a mod on the smsc_at.c file.
Basicaly the current source tree has the problem that the incoming SMSs
are lost when send_modem_command reads from the modem the results of a
command ... instaid of reading simply 'OK' or 'ERROR' it will pick up
partial incoming SMS PDUs .... From memory there were a few other problems
which were rectified as well. It is found that total round trip reception
/ transmission takes around 8 seconds.
In my opinion ....
The only solution which ensures reliability is one in which SMS
reception operates through ME or SM memory. This realy doesn't slow the
modem down, as aproximatly 90% of its time is spent sending a message. It
has the advantage that during huge SMS spams, the network backs up
un-deliverable SMSs.
I have been working with the Ericsson gm2* modem type.
A falcom modem type should be included in the patch, other modem types
will require the information originaly requested by Andreas.
I have a patch and will send it tomorrow afternoon (Sydney Australia
time).
To whom do I send ?
The list or somewhere else ?
thanks
