Does anybody know where I can get statistics on various features of Kannel like:
1) No. of users the SMS Gateway can simultaneously service
there is no limit. Well maybe if usernames & passwords in the
list fill up the memory. If you got that many different users you
might want to do a frontend for authentication and then only use a
single username for kannel or you could change kannel to use a
database for the user config instead.
2) Does the SMS box have a queue; and if it does how many requests can it store in the queue
again, there is no limit. Physical memory does limit you
somehow.
3) I do not know how the architecture works, but does it allow for any kind of queueing between the Bearerbox and SMS box
Yes. You can connect multiple SMSboxes to a single bearerbox and
the bearerbox has its own queues for every SMSC. If a SMS arrives from
a SMSBox it simply routes it to the corresponding SMSC link and puts
it in the hold queue of that link. I've seen several thousand messages
being queued that way without any problem. Kannel is bullet proof and
I know several companies (including myself) who send several million
sms per month over it without Kannel ever going down.
