The service is going to be pretty much SMS oriented at least for starters.

At first it's going to be via (presumably Wavecom) GSM modems since we need
many different numbers for receiveng & sending.

And before you ask, the reason is that we are trying to avoid keywords in
the messages so different numbers is the easiest (only?) way to avoid this.
And the application works by initiating the messaging with a push so the
person using the the phone just has to hit "reply" and so doesn't have to
remember/store the numbers.

Later on if there is enough traffic we'll open connections to the SMSCs (the
%¤&! operators want so much money for this) as necessary. I really don't
have very clear picture about the SMSCs used by the operators here, but
since this is Finland I would hazard a guess that Nokia is quite common,
which would mean CIMD. And I think I have heard people talking about EMI 2.0
but I honestly don't know yet since I haven't had the time to clear these
things up.
