There is some code in the dlr.c file which is normally commented out. If you want to use it, your'e on our own. Standard kannel doesnt need it but I found it useful to have for some folks (like me) where kannel sometimes crashes or you restart it because you updated something. I would call it a unsupported feature.
Ditto.. Except that I am considering using it in a live implementation as well. This could give me lots of additional info that I require in my Q manager which dispatches messages to Kannel.
I agree that the db can become a bottle neck, but does anyone have anythoughts as to whether the bottleneck will occur at the db, or at the SMSC, given that many of them throttle back the number of messages/sec they accept. This will result in long queues in Kannel, and yes memory is cheap, but the net effect will still be a reduction in the number of messages sent.
